What are your guiding principles in developing a new product?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>R:<\/strong> The development of a product involves responsibilities, both in a functional sense and in terms of environmental sustainability. When we start developing something new, the key elements to consider are not only the strength and functionality the new product should have, but also the importance of disassembling it and properly recycling its components. In recent years, new eco-friendly materials have become available; such materials represent our first choice, whenever possible. Steel \u2013 our main work element \u2013 is a very easily recyclable material and the sheet metal coils we use include a very high percentage of recycled iron too.<br \/>\nO.M.S. has always been attentive to production technology by maintaining a cost optimization policy but also by exploiting the resource of energy saving; fewer steps correspond to less energy use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>O.M.S. exports all over the world. What is your product transport policy, Michael?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>R:<\/strong> First of all, all the materials used by O.M.S. are exclusively purchased in Italy, thus avoiding trans-oceanic transport of components. In my opinion, defining something &#8220;eco-friendly&#8221; also implies transporting it in an eco-friendly way, without wasting hectoliters of fuel. Packaging is also a key element: whenever possible, we use returnable packaging. It is also very important to optimize the ratio no. pieces \/ packaging volume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Is durability a significant factor in product development?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>R:<\/strong> Our focus is to produce very durable pieces, much longer lasting than the warranty terms. In fact, if you can postpone the scrapping of a chair, you are already embracing sustainability. Moreover, our production methods have always focused on limiting the use of materials. Quando iniziamo a sviluppare qualcosa di nuovo, i punti principali che teniamo in considerazione sono la resistenza e la funzionalit\u00e0 ai quali il pezzo dovr\u00e0 rispondere, ma non dammeno la possibilit\u00e0 di disassemblare il pezzo e riciclare correttamente le sue componenti. Negli ultimi anni si sono inoltre affacciati nuovi materiali definiti \u201cgreen\u201d, materiali che rappresentano la nostra prima scelta, quando possibile. L\u2019acciaio, nostro principale elemento, \u00e8 uno dei materiali maggiormente riutilizzabili, i coils di lamiera che noi utilizziamo, hanno a loro volta una altissima percentuale di ferro gi\u00e0 riciclato.\r\nO.M.S. da sempre \u00e8 attenta alla tecnologia produttiva sia in un\u2019ottica di risparmio costi ma anche per un risparmio energetico, minori passaggi corrispondono ad un minor utilizzo di energia<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Michael, OMS esporta in tutto il mondo, come viene trattato il tema dei trasporto nella progettazione?<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>R:<\/strong> premetto che tutti i materiali che O.M.S. utilizza vengono acquistati in Italia e questo gi\u00e0 elimina trasporti trans-oceanici di componenti, trovo poco sensato dichiarare che un elemento \u00e8 green ed appesantirlo poi con litri di carburanti utilizzati per farlo arrivare a destino. Anche l\u2019imballo ha un ruolo fondamentale, utilizzare quando possibile, imballi a rendere o riuscire ad ottimizzare il rapporto nr. pezzi\/volume imballo \u00e8 fondamentale.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>La durabilit\u00e0 di un componente viene presa in considerazione?<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>R:<\/strong> cerchiamo di costruire elementi che durino nel tempo, ben oltre i termini di garanzia contrattuali, infatti posticipare la rottamazione di una sedia, \u00e8 gi\u00e0 un passo verso la sostenibilit\u00e0.
